¹⁴ The Word^(A) became flesh^(B) and dwelt^[a] among us. We observed his glory,^(C) the glory as the one and only^(D) Son^[b] from the Father, full of grace and truth.

³ For we are the circumcision,^(A) the ones who worship by the Spirit^(B) of God, boast in Christ Jesus,^(C) and do not put confidence in the flesh—

² This is how you know the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh^(A) is from God,^(B)

²⁰ And we know that the Son of God has come^(A) and has given us understanding so that we may know the true one.^[a] We are in the true one—that is, in his Son, Jesus Christ.^(B) He is the true God and eternal life.
