12 Then, when He had washed their feet, and (A)taken His garments and reclined at the table again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done for you? 13 You call Me (B)‘Teacher’ and (C)‘Lord’; and [a]you are correct, for so I am. 14 So if I, (D)the Lord and the Teacher, washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I gave you (E)an example, so that you also would do just as I did for you. 16 Truly, truly I say to you, (F)a slave is not greater than his master, nor is (G)[b]one who is sent greater than the one who sent him.

12 When he had finished washing their feet, he put on his clothes and returned to his place. “Do you understand what I have done for you?” he asked them. 13 “You call me ‘Teacher’(A) and ‘Lord,’(B) and rightly so, for that is what I am. 14 Now that I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also should wash one another’s feet.(C) 15 I have set you an example that you should do as I have done for you.(D) 16 Very truly I tell you, no servant is greater than his master,(E) nor is a messenger greater than the one who sent him.
