38 Kort efter henvendte Josef fra Arimatæa sig til Pilatus. Josef var en af Jesu disciple, men ikke åbenlyst, for han var bange for de jødiske ledere. Han bad om tilladelse til at tage Jesu lig ned, og det gav Pilatus ham lov til. Da han tog det ned, 39 var Nikodemus også med. Det var ham, der var kommet til Jesus om natten. Han medbragte 30 kilo salve, en blanding af myrra og aloe.

38 Later, Joseph of Arimathea asked Pilate for the body of Jesus. Now Joseph was a disciple of Jesus, but secretly because he feared the Jewish leaders.(C) With Pilate’s permission, he came and took the body away. 39 He was accompanied by Nicodemus,(D) the man who earlier had visited Jesus at night. Nicodemus brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about seventy-five pounds.[b]

38 And after this Joseph of Arimathaea, being a disciple of Jesus, but secretly for fear of the Jews, besought Pilate that he might take away the body of Jesus: and Pilate gave him leave. He came therefore, and took the body of Jesus.

39 And there came also Nicodemus, which at the first came to Jesus by night, and brought a mixture of myrrh and aloes, about an hundred pound weight.
