8 Entonces Bildad, el suhita, respondió a Job:
2 «¿Hasta cuándo seguirás hablando así?
Suenas como un viento rugiente.
3 ¿Acaso Dios tuerce la justicia?
¿Tuerce el Todopoderoso lo que es recto?
4 Seguramente tus hijos pecaron contra él,
y por eso el castigo estaba bien merecido;
5 pero si oras a Dios
y buscas el favor del Todopoderoso,
6 si eres puro y vives con integridad,
sin duda que él se levantará y devolverá la felicidad a tu hogar.
7 Aunque comenzaste con poco,
terminarás con mucho.
8 »Tan solo pregunta a la generación anterior;
presta atención a la experiencia de nuestros antepasados,
9 porque nacimos apenas ayer y no sabemos nada;
nuestros días sobre la tierra son tan fugaces como una sombra.
10 Sin embargo, los que vivieron antes que nosotros te enseñarán;
te enseñarán la sabiduría de antaño.
11 »¿Pueden crecer altas las cañas del papiro donde no hay pantanos?
¿Pueden crecer en abundancia las hierbas de pantano donde no hay agua?
12 Cuando están floreciendo y aún no están listas para ser cortadas,
empiezan a marchitarse más rápido que la hierba.
13 Lo mismo les ocurre a todos los que se olvidan de Dios;
las esperanzas de los que viven sin Dios se evaporan.
14 Su confianza pende de un hilo;
se apoyan en una tela de araña.
15 Se aferran a su hogar para sentirse seguros, pero esa seguridad no durará;
intentan retenerla con firmeza, pero no permanecerá.
16 Los que no tienen a Dios parecen una planta frondosa que crece al sol,
y que extiende sus ramas por el jardín;
17 sus raíces penetran entre las piedras
y se sujetan a las rocas;
18 pero cuando se la arranca de raíz,
¡es como si nunca hubiera existido!
19 Así termina su vida,
y del suelo brotan otras plantas para reemplazarla.
20 »Sin embargo, mira, Dios no rechazará a una persona íntegra,
tampoco dará una mano a los malvados.
21 Él volverá a llenar tu boca de risas
y tus labios con gritos de alegría.
22 Los que te odian se vestirán de vergüenza,
y el hogar de los malvados será destruido».

Bildad
8 Then Bildad the Shuhite(A) replied:
2 “How long will you say such things?(B)
Your words are a blustering wind.(C)
3 Does God pervert justice?(D)
Does the Almighty pervert what is right?(E)
4 When your children sinned against him,
he gave them over to the penalty of their sin.(F)
5 But if you will seek God earnestly
and plead(G) with the Almighty,(H)
6 if you are pure and upright,
even now he will rouse himself on your behalf(I)
and restore you to your prosperous state.(J)
7 Your beginnings will seem humble,
so prosperous(K) will your future be.(L)
8 “Ask the former generation(M)
and find out what their ancestors learned,
9 for we were born only yesterday and know nothing,(N)
and our days on earth are but a shadow.(O)
10 Will they not instruct(P) you and tell you?
Will they not bring forth words from their understanding?(Q)
11 Can papyrus grow tall where there is no marsh?(R)
Can reeds(S) thrive without water?
12 While still growing and uncut,
they wither more quickly than grass.(T)
13 Such is the destiny(U) of all who forget God;(V)
so perishes the hope of the godless.(W)
14 What they trust in is fragile[a];
what they rely on is a spider’s web.(X)
15 They lean on the web,(Y) but it gives way;
they cling to it, but it does not hold.(Z)
16 They are like a well-watered plant in the sunshine,
spreading its shoots(AA) over the garden;(AB)
17 it entwines its roots around a pile of rocks
and looks for a place among the stones.
18 But when it is torn from its spot,
that place disowns(AC) it and says, ‘I never saw you.’(AD)
19 Surely its life withers(AE) away,
and[b] from the soil other plants grow.(AF)
