34 ¶ Furthermore, Elihu answered and said,
2 Hear my words, O ye wise men; and give ear unto me, ye that have knowledge.
3 For the ear tries words, as the mouth tastes food.
4 Let us choose our judgment; let us know among ourselves what is good.
5 For Job has said, I am righteous; and God has taken away my right.
6 In my judgment he was a liar, my arrow wound is grievous without my having committed a transgression.
7 What man is like Job, who drinks up the scorn like water?
8 Who goes in company with the workers of iniquity, and walks with wicked men.
9 For he said, It shall profit a man nothing that he should conform his will with God.
10 ¶ Therefore, hearken unto me, ye men of understanding: far be it from God, that he should do wickedness; and from the Almighty, that he should commit iniquity.
11 For he shall pay man according to his work and cause every man to find according to his ways.
12 Yea, surely God will not do wickedly, neither will the Almighty pervert judgment.
13 Who visited the earth for him? And who set the whole world in order?
14 If he were to set his heart upon man and gather unto himself his spirit and his breath,
15 all flesh would perish together, and man would turn again unto dust.
16 ¶ If now thou hast understanding, hear this: hearken to the voice of my words.
17 Shall even he that hates judgment govern? And wilt thou condemn the Mighty One that is righteous?
18 Is it fit to say to the king, Thou art of Belial and to the princes, Ye are ungodly?
19 How much less to him who is not a respecter of the persons of princes, nor respects the rich more than the poor; for they all are the work of his hands.
20 In a moment they shall die, and the peoples shall be troubled at midnight and shall pass away; and the mighty shall be taken away without hand.
21 For his eyes are upon the ways of man, and he sees all his steps.
22 There is no darkness nor shadow of death, where the workers of iniquity may hide themselves.
23 For he will not lay upon man more than that which is just; that he should enter into judgment with God.
24 He shall break in pieces mighty men without number and set others in their stead.
25 Therefore, he shall cause their works to be notorious, when he shall overturn them in the night, so that they are destroyed.
26 He shall strike them as wicked men in the open sight of others
27 because thus they turned back from him and would not consider any of his ways
28 so that they cause the cry of the poor to come unto him, and he hears the cry of the afflicted.
29 When he gives rest, who then can make trouble? If he hides his face, who then can behold him? This applies to a nation and the same to a man,
30 that the hypocrite not reign, lest the people be ensnared.
31 ¶ For it is of God to say, I have forgiven, I will no longer destroy.
32 Teach me that which I do not see; if I have done iniquity, I will do it no more.
33 Will he perchance finish his work by thee; whether thou refuse, or whether thou choose, or by me? Speak what thou knowest.
34 The men of understanding will say as I say, and the wise man will hearken unto me.
35 Job has spoken without knowledge, and his words were without prudence.
36 My desire is that Job may be tried unto the end, that there may be answers against wicked men.
37 For he added rebellion unto his sin, he claps his hands among us and multiplies his words against God.

2 “智慧人哪！你们要听我的话；
有知识的人哪！你们要侧耳听我。
3 因为耳朵试验言语，
好象上膛尝试食物。
4 我们要选择何为是，
让我们彼此知道何为善。
5 约伯说：‘我是有理的，
神却夺去我的公理；
6 我虽然有公理，却被认为是说谎的；
我虽然毫无过犯，我所受的箭伤却无法医治。’
7 有哪一个人像约伯呢？
他喝亵慢如同喝水，
8 他与作孽的同伙，
他与恶人同行。
9 因为他说过：‘人讨 神的喜悦，
对他并无益处。’
神是公义的
10 所以，明理的人哪！你们要听我的话，
神决不至作恶，全能者断不至行不义，
11 因为 神必照着人所作的报应他，
使各人按照所行的得报应。
12 真的， 神必不作恶，
全能者也必不颠倒是非。
13 谁派他管理大地？
谁设立全世界呢？
14 他若对人决心这样作，
他若把灵与气收归自己，
15 有血肉生命的就都一同气绝身亡，
世人都归回尘土。
16 你若明理，就请听这话，
留心听我说话的声音。
17 恨恶公平的真的可以掌权吗？
那有公义与大能的，你定他为有罪吗？
18 他不是对君王说：‘你是匪徒’，
又对贵族说：‘你们是恶人’吗？
19 他不徇王子的情面，
也不看重富人过于穷人，
因为他们都是他手所造的。

20 他们在半夜之中剎那之间死亡，
平民因遭受震动而去世，
有权势的被除灭非借人手。
21 神的眼看顾人的道路，
察看他每一步，
22 没有黑暗，又没有死荫的地方，
可以给作孽的在那里藏身。
23 神不必进一步鉴察人，
使人到他面前去受审判。
24 他不必查究就可以打碎有权势的人，
并且设立别人代替他们。
25 他原来留心他们所行的，
在夜间倾覆他们，他们就被压碎；
26 他在观众面前击打他们，
有如击打恶人一样；
27 因为他们偏离正道不跟从他，
也不留心他的一切道路，
28 以致穷人的哀求达到他那里，
他也垂听了困苦人的哀求。
29 他若安静不动，谁能定他有罪呢？
他若掩面，谁能看见他呢？
无论对待一国或一人，都是这样。
30 别让不敬虔的人作王，
免得他危害人民。
31 有人对 神说：
‘我忍受了管教，不再有败坏的行为了，
32 我所看不到的求你指教我，
我若行了罪孽，必不再行’。
33 神会因你拒绝悔改，
就遵照你的心意吗？
要作抉择的是你，不是我，
你所知道的，只管说出来吧。
34 明理的人必对我说，
智慧的人要听我的话。
35 约伯说话毫无知识，
他的言语没有智慧。
36 但愿约伯被试验到底，

34 Then Elihu said:
2 “Hear my words, you wise men;
listen to me,(A) you men of learning.
3 For the ear tests words
as the tongue tastes food.(B)
4 Let us discern for ourselves what is right;(C)
let us learn together what is good.(D)
5 “Job says, ‘I am innocent,(E)
but God denies me justice.(F)
6 Although I am right,
I am considered a liar;(G)
although I am guiltless,(H)
his arrow inflicts an incurable wound.’(I)
7 Is there anyone like Job,
who drinks scorn like water?(J)
8 He keeps company with evildoers;
he associates with the wicked.(K)
9 For he says, ‘There is no profit
in trying to please God.’(L)
10 “So listen to me,(M) you men of understanding.(N)
Far be it from God to do evil,(O)
from the Almighty to do wrong.(P)
11 He repays everyone for what they have done;(Q)
he brings on them what their conduct deserves.(R)
12 It is unthinkable that God would do wrong,(S)
that the Almighty would pervert justice.(T)
13 Who appointed(U) him over the earth?
Who put him in charge of the whole world?(V)
14 If it were his intention
and he withdrew his spirit[a](W) and breath,(X)
15 all humanity would perish(Y) together
and mankind would return to the dust.(Z)
16 “If you have understanding,(AA) hear this;
listen to what I say.(AB)
17 Can someone who hates justice govern?(AC)
Will you condemn the just and mighty One?(AD)
18 Is he not the One who says to kings, ‘You are worthless,’
and to nobles,(AE) ‘You are wicked,’(AF)
19 who shows no partiality(AG) to princes
and does not favor the rich over the poor,(AH)
for they are all the work of his hands?(AI)
20 They die in an instant, in the middle of the night;(AJ)
the people are shaken and they pass away;
the mighty are removed without human hand.(AK)
21 “His eyes are on the ways of mortals;(AL)
he sees their every step.(AM)
22 There is no deep shadow,(AN) no utter darkness,(AO)
where evildoers can hide.(AP)
23 God has no need to examine people further,(AQ)
that they should come before him for judgment.(AR)
24 Without inquiry he shatters(AS) the mighty(AT)
and sets up others in their place.(AU)
25 Because he takes note of their deeds,(AV)
he overthrows them in the night(AW) and they are crushed.(AX)
26 He punishes them for their wickedness(AY)
where everyone can see them,
27 because they turned from following him(AZ)
and had no regard for any of his ways.(BA)
28 They caused the cry of the poor to come before him,
so that he heard the cry of the needy.(BB)
29 But if he remains silent,(BC) who can condemn him?(BD)
If he hides his face,(BE) who can see him?
Yet he is over individual and nation alike,(BF)
30 to keep the godless(BG) from ruling,(BH)
from laying snares for the people.(BI)
31 “Suppose someone says to God,
‘I am guilty(BJ) but will offend no more.
32 Teach me what I cannot see;(BK)
if I have done wrong, I will not do so again.’(BL)
33 Should God then reward you on your terms,
when you refuse to repent?(BM)
You must decide, not I;
so tell me what you know.
34 “Men of understanding declare,
wise men who hear me say to me,
35 ‘Job speaks without knowledge;(BN)
his words lack insight.’(BO)
36 Oh, that Job might be tested to the utmost
for answering like a wicked man!(BP)
37 To his sin he adds rebellion;
scornfully he claps his hands(BQ) among us
and multiplies his words(BR) against God.”(BS)
