¹⁰ That is why snares^(A) are all around you,^(B)
    why sudden peril terrifies you,^(C)

²⁰ Terrors^(A) overtake him like a flood;^(B)
    a tempest snatches him away in the night.^(C)

³ I have commanded those I prepared for battle;
    I have summoned my warriors^(A) to carry out my wrath^(B)—
    those who rejoice^(C) in my triumph.

²⁵ “I am against^(A) you, you destroying mountain,
    you who destroy the whole earth,”^(B)
declares the Lord.
“I will stretch out my hand^(C) against you,
    roll you off the cliffs,
    and make you a burned-out mountain.^(D)

⁵³ Even if Babylon ascends to the heavens^(A)
    and fortifies her lofty stronghold,
    I will send destroyers^(B) against her,”
declares the Lord.

⁵⁶ A destroyer^(A) will come against Babylon;
    her warriors will be captured,
    and their bows will be broken.^(B)
For the Lord is a God of retribution;
    he will repay^(C) in full.
