Job 20:21-29
New International Version
21 Nothing is left for him to devour;
his prosperity will not endure.(A)
22 In the midst of his plenty, distress will overtake him;(B)
the full force of misery will come upon him.(C)
23 When he has filled his belly,(D)
God will vent his burning anger(E) against him
and rain down his blows on him.(F)
24 Though he flees(G) from an iron weapon,
a bronze-tipped arrow pierces him.(H)
25 He pulls it out of his back,
the gleaming point out of his liver.
Terrors(I) will come over him;(J)
26 total darkness(K) lies in wait for his treasures.
A fire(L) unfanned will consume him(M)
and devour what is left in his tent.(N)
27 The heavens will expose his guilt;
the earth will rise up against him.(O)
28 A flood will carry off his house,(P)
rushing waters[a] on the day of God’s wrath.(Q)
29 Such is the fate God allots the wicked,
the heritage appointed for them by God.”(R)
