Då satte sig Job och sörjde i aska och tog en lerskärva och skrapade sig med den.

Hans hustru sa: Försöker du fortfarande vara gudfruktig, trots att Gud har gjort allt det här mot dig? Förbanna honom och dö!

10 Men han svarade: Du talar som en dåre. Vad menar du? Skulle vi bara ta emot det som är gott från Guds hand och aldrig hans prövningar? Trots allt som hade hänt honom sa Job aldrig något ont mot Herren.

Then Job took a piece of broken pottery and scraped himself with it as he sat among the ashes.(A)

His wife said to him, “Are you still maintaining your integrity?(B) Curse God and die!”(C)

10 He replied, “You are talking like a foolish[a] woman. Shall we accept good from God, and not trouble?”(D)

In all this, Job did not sin in what he said.(E)
