    I call for help, but there is no justice.

    and you will not hear?
Or cry to you ^(B)“Violence!”
    and you will not save?
^3 (C)Why do you make me see iniquity,
    and why do you idly look at wrong?
Destruction ^(D)and violence are before me;
    strife and contention arise.

    he shuts out my prayer;

    Will you condemn me that ^(A)you may be in the right?

    Oh, that I had ^(B)the indictment written by my adversary!
³⁶ Surely I would carry it on my ^(C)shoulder;
    I would ^(D)bind it on me as ^(E)a crown;

²⁰ I cry to you for help and you do not answer me;
    I stand, and you only look at me.

³ Oh, ^(A)that I knew where I might find him,
    that I might come even to his ^(B)seat!
⁴ I would ^(C)lay my case before him
    and fill my mouth with arguments.
⁵ I would know what he would answer me
    and understand what he would say to me.
⁶ Would he ^(D)contend with me in the greatness of his power?
    No; he would pay attention to me.
⁷ There an upright man could argue with him,
    and I would be acquitted forever by my judge.
