¹⁶ His roots below dry up,
and his branches above wither away.^(A)

¹⁹ He has no children or descendants among his people,
no survivor where he used to live.^(A)

¹⁰ You will wipe their progeny from the earth
and their offspring from the human race.^[a](A)

²⁸ For the Lord loves justice
and will not abandon his faithful ones.^(A)
They are kept safe forever,
but the children of the wicked will be destroyed.^(B)

² But he also is wise and brings disaster.^(A)
He does not go back on what he says;^(B)
he will rise up against the house of the wicked
and against the allies of evildoers.
