²⁸ He dwells in desolate cities,
In houses which no one inhabits,
Which are destined to become ruins.

¹⁴ With kings and counselors of the earth,
Who ^(A)built ruins for themselves,

^18 (A)Who is a God like You,
^(B)Pardoning iniquity
And passing over the transgression of ^(C)the remnant of His heritage?

¹² Therefore because of you
Zion shall be ^(A)plowed like a field,
^(B)Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins,
And ^(C)the mountain of the ^[a]temple
Like the bare hills of the forest.

^37 (A)Babylon shall become a heap,
A dwelling place for jackals,
^(B)An astonishment and a hissing,
Without an inhabitant.

⁸ Woe to those who ^[a]join ^(A)house to house;
They add field to field,
Till there is no place
Where they may dwell alone in the midst of the land!
^9 (B)In my hearing the Lord of hosts said,
“Truly, many houses shall be desolate,
Great and beautiful ones, without inhabitant.
¹⁰ For ten acres of vineyard shall yield one ^(C)bath,^[b]
And a homer of seed shall yield one ^[c]ephah.”

¹⁵ They dwell in his tent who are none of his;
Brimstone is scattered on his dwelling.
