Frälsningen - den heliga vägen
35 Öknen och ödemarken skall glädja sig,
hedmarken fröjda sig och blomstra som en lilja.
2 Den skall blomstra skönt och fröjda sig,
ja, fröjda sig och jubla.
Libanons härlighet skall ges åt den,
Karmels och Sarons prakt.
De skall få se Herrens härlighet,
vår Guds majestät.
3 Stärk kraftlösa händer,
styrk vacklande knän.
4 Säg till de försagda:
"Var starka, frukta inte!"
Se, er Gud kommer med hämnd,
vedergällning kommer från Gud.
Han kommer själv och frälsar er.
5 Då skall de blindas ögon öppnas
och de dövas öron upplåtas.
6 Den lame skall hoppa som en hjort,
den stummes tunga skall jubla.
Ty vatten skall bryta fram i öknen,
strömmar på hedmarken.
7 Den glödande sanden skall bli en sjö,
den torra marken vattenrika källor.
Där schakalerna har sina lyor
skall det växa säv, vass och bambu.
8 En banad väg, en vandringsled, skall gå där,
och den skall kallas "den heliga vägen".
Ingen oren skall färdas på den,
men den är till för dem.[a]
De som vandrar den vägen skall inte gå vilse,
även om de är dårar.
9 Lejon skall inte finnas där,
rovdjur skall inte komma dit.
De skall inte finnas där,
men de återlösta skall färdas på den.
10 Herrens friköpta skall vända tillbaka
och komma till Sion med jubel.
Evig glädje skall kröna deras huvuden.
Fröjd och glädje skall de få,
sorg och suckan skall fly bort.

35 Öknen och ödemarken ska glädjas
och vildmarken blomma som en lilja.
2 Den ska spricka ut i blomning,
fröjdas och ropa av glädje.
Libanons härlighet ska ges åt den,
Karmels och Sharons prakt.
Folket ska få se Herrens härlighet,
vår Guds majestät.
3 Styrk svaga händer,
ge stadga åt vacklande knän!
4 Säg till dem som är rädda:
”Var starka, var inte rädda,
för er Gud kommer med hämnd,
Guds straff kommer,
men han ska rädda er.”
5 Då ska de blindas ögon öppnas
och de dövas öron höra.
6 Den lame ska hoppa som en hjort
och den stumme ropa av glädje.
Vatten ska bryta fram i öknen
och strömmar i ödemarken.
7 Förbränd mark ska förvandlas till en sjö,
törstande jord till en källa,
och där schakalerna nu håller till
ska det växa gräs, vass och papyrus.
8 Där ska det gå en huvudled, en väg
som ska kallas den heliga vägen.
Ingen oren får gå där,
utan den är till för dem som går på vägen.
Inga dårar ska vandra omkring på den.[a]
9 Där finns inga lejon,
dit kommer inga rovdjur.
Bara de befriade ska vandra där.
10 De som Herren friköpt ska återvända
och komma till Sion med jubel,
krönta med evig glädje.
Fröjd och glädje ska följa dem,
sorg och suckan flyr.

Joy of the Redeemed
35 The desert(A) and the parched land will be glad;
the wilderness will rejoice and blossom.(B)
Like the crocus,(C) 2 it will burst into bloom;
it will rejoice greatly and shout for joy.(D)
The glory of Lebanon(E) will be given to it,
the splendor of Carmel(F) and Sharon;(G)
they will see the glory(H) of the Lord,
the splendor of our God.(I)
3 Strengthen the feeble hands,
steady the knees(J) that give way;
4 say(K) to those with fearful hearts,(L)
“Be strong, do not fear;(M)
your God will come,(N)
he will come with vengeance;(O)
with divine retribution
he will come to save(P) you.”
5 Then will the eyes of the blind be opened(Q)
and the ears of the deaf(R) unstopped.
6 Then will the lame(S) leap like a deer,(T)
and the mute tongue(U) shout for joy.(V)
Water will gush forth in the wilderness
and streams(W) in the desert.
7 The burning sand will become a pool,
the thirsty ground(X) bubbling springs.(Y)
In the haunts where jackals(Z) once lay,
grass and reeds(AA) and papyrus will grow.
8 And a highway(AB) will be there;
it will be called the Way of Holiness;(AC)
it will be for those who walk on that Way.
The unclean(AD) will not journey on it;
wicked fools will not go about on it.
9 No lion(AE) will be there,
nor any ravenous beast;(AF)
they will not be found there.
But only the redeemed(AG) will walk there,
10 and those the Lord has rescued(AH) will return.
They will enter Zion with singing;(AI)
everlasting joy(AJ) will crown their heads.
Gladness(AK) and joy will overtake them,
and sorrow and sighing will flee away.(AL)

2 (C)It shall blossom abundantly and rejoice,
Even with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
The excellence of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the (D)glory of the Lord,
The excellency of our God.
3 (E)Strengthen the [c]weak hands,
And make firm the [d]feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with (F)vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and (G)save you.”
5 Then the (H)eyes of the blind shall be opened,
And (I)the ears of the deaf shall be unstopped.
6 Then the (J)lame shall leap like a deer,
And the (K)tongue of the dumb sing.
For (L)waters shall burst forth in the wilderness,
And streams in the desert.
7 The parched ground shall become a pool,
And the thirsty land springs of water;
In (M)the habitation of jackals, where each lay,
There shall be grass with reeds and rushes.
8 A (N)highway shall be there, and a road,
And it shall be called the Highway of Holiness.
(O)The unclean shall not pass over it,
But it shall be for others.
Whoever walks the road, although a fool,
Shall not go astray.
9 (P)No lion shall be there,
Nor shall any ravenous beast go up on it;
It shall not be found there.
But the redeemed shall walk there,
10 And the (Q)ransomed of the Lord shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness,
And (R)sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

35 The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad,
the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
like the crocus 2 it shall blossom abundantly,
and rejoice with joy and singing.
The glory of Lebanon shall be given to it,
the majesty of Carmel and Sharon.
They shall see the glory of the Lord,
the majesty of our God.
3 Strengthen the weak hands,
and make firm the feeble knees.
4 Say to those who are of a fearful heart,
“Be strong, fear not!
Behold, your God
will come with vengeance,
with the recompense of God.
He will come and save you.”
5 Then the eyes of the blind shall be opened,
and the ears of the deaf unstopped;
6 then shall the lame man leap like a hart,
and the tongue of the dumb sing for joy.
For waters shall break forth in the wilderness,
and streams in the desert;
7 the burning sand shall become a pool,
and the thirsty ground springs of water;
the haunt of jackals shall become a swamp,[a]
the grass shall become reeds and rushes.
8 And a highway shall be there,
and it shall be called the Holy Way;
the unclean shall not pass over it,[b]
and fools shall not err therein.
9 No lion shall be there,
nor shall any ravenous beast come up on it;
they shall not be found there,
but the redeemed shall walk there.
10 And the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
and come to Zion with singing;
everlasting joy shall be upon their heads;
they shall obtain joy and gladness,
and sorrow and sighing shall flee away.
