²³ This is what the Lord says: “^(A)Let no wise man boast of his wisdom, nor let the ^(B)mighty man boast of his might, nor a ^(C)rich man boast of his riches;

³⁸ And so in the present case, I say to you, stay away from these men and leave them alone, for if the source of this plan or ^[a]movement ^(A)is men, it will be overthrown; ³⁹ but if the source is God, you will not be able to overthrow them; or else you may even be found ^(B)fighting against God.”

¹⁹ For ^(A)the wisdom of this world is foolishness in the sight of God. For it is written: “He is ^(B)the one who catches the wise by their craftiness”; ²⁰ and again, “^(C)The Lord knows the thoughts of the wise, that they are useless.”
