⁹ I am going to send for all the families of the north”^(A) – this is the Lord’s declaration – ”and send for my servant^(B) Nebuchadnezzar king of Babylon, and I will bring them against this land, against its residents, and against all these surrounding nations, and I will completely destroy them and make them an example of horror^(C) and scorn, and ruins for ever.^(D)

¹⁸ I will pursue them with sword, famine, and plague. I will make them a horror to all the kingdoms of the earth – a curse and a desolation, an object of scorn and a disgrace among all the nations^(A) where I have banished them.^(B)

²² I am about to give the command – this is the Lord’s declaration – and I will bring them back to this city. They will fight against it, capture it, and burn it.^(A) I will make Judah’s cities a desolation, without inhabitant.’^(B)
