²⁶ But they did not listen to me or pay attention.^(A) They were stiff-necked^(B) and did more evil than their ancestors.’^(C)

¹⁵ “This is what the Lord Almighty, the God of Israel, says: ‘Listen! I am going to bring on this city and all the villages around it every disaster^(A) I pronounced against them, because they were stiff-necked^(B) and would not listen^(C) to my words.’”

⁸ But I will make you as unyielding and hardened as they are.^{(A) 9} I will make your forehead^(B) like the hardest stone, harder than flint.^(C) Do not be afraid of them or terrified by them, though they are a rebellious people.^(D)”

²⁶ I will give you a new heart^(A) and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone^(B) and give you a heart of flesh.^(C)

¹² They made their hearts as hard as flint^(A) and would not listen to the law or to the words that the Lord Almighty had sent by his Spirit through the earlier prophets.^(B) So the Lord Almighty was very angry.^(C)
