³ “I will send four kinds of destroyers^(A) against them,” declares the Lord, “the sword^(B) to kill and the dogs^(C) to drag away and the birds^(D) and the wild animals to devour and destroy.^(E)

⁸ You fear the sword,^(A) and the sword is what I will bring against you, declares the Sovereign Lord.^(B)

¹⁷ “Or if I bring a sword^(A) against that country and say, ‘Let the sword pass throughout the land,’ and I kill its people and their animals,^(B)

⁴ Because I am going to cut off the righteous and the wicked, my sword^(A) will be unsheathed against everyone from south to north.^(B)

² “Son of man, speak to your people and say to them: ‘When I bring the sword^(A) against a land, and the people of the land choose one of their men and make him their watchman,^(B)
