Therefore, behold, the days are coming,
    declares the Lord,
when I will cause (A)the battle cry to be heard
    against (B)Rabbah of the Ammonites;
it shall become a desolate (C)mound,
    and its villages shall be burned with fire;
then Israel shall dispossess those who dispossessed him,
    says the Lord.

“Wail, O (D)Heshbon, for Ai is laid waste!
    Cry out, O daughters of (E)Rabbah!
(F)Put on sackcloth,
    lament, and run to and fro among the hedges!
For (G)Milcom shall go into exile,
    (H)with his priests and his officials.
Why do you boast of your valleys,[a]
    (I)O faithless daughter,
(J)who trusted in her treasures, saying,
    ‘Who will come against me?’

For [b]Milcom shall go into captivity
With his (E)priests and his princes together.
Why (F)do you boast in the valleys,
[c]Your flowing valley, O (G)backsliding daughter?
Who trusted in her (H)treasures, (I)saying,
‘Who will come against me?’
