⁸^(A)Do not be afraid of them,
^(B)for I am with you to deliver you,
declares the Lord.”

⁹^(C)Then the Lord put out his hand and ^(D)touched my mouth. And the Lord said to me,

“Behold, I have put ^(E)my words in your mouth.
¹⁰See, I have set you this day ^(F)over nations and over kingdoms,
^(G)to pluck up and to break down,
to destroy and to overthrow,
to build and to plant.”

²⁴And he said, “Truly, I say to you, ^(A)no prophet is acceptable in his hometown. ²⁵But in truth, I tell you, there were many widows in Israel in the days of Elijah, when ^(B)the heavens were shut up three years and six months, and a great famine came over all the land, ²⁶and Elijah was sent to none of them ^(C)but only to Zarephath, in the land of Sidon, to a woman who was a widow. ²⁷And ^(D)there were many lepers^[a] in Israel in the time of the prophet Elisha, and none of them was cleansed, ^(E)but only Naaman the Syrian.” ²⁸When they heard these things, all in the synagogue were filled with wrath.
