Jeremiah 26:16-18

¹⁶Then said the princes and all the people unto the priests and to the prophets; This man is not worthy to die: for he hath spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God. ¹⁷Then rose up certain of the elders of the land, and spake to all the assembly of the people, saying, ¹⁸Micah the Morasthite prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah, and spake to all the people of Judah, saying, Thus saith the Lord of hosts;

Zion shall be plowed like a field,
and Jerusalem shall become heaps,
and the mountain of the house
as the high places of a forest.

New International Version

¹⁶Then the officials^(A) and all the people said to the priests and the prophets, “This man should not be sentenced to death!^(B) He has spoken to us in the name of the Lord our God.”

¹⁷Some of the elders of the land stepped forward and said to the entire assembly of people, ¹⁸“Micah^(C) of Moresheth prophesied in the days of Hezekiah king of Judah. He told all the people of Judah, ‘This is what the Lord Almighty says:

“‘Zion^(D) will be plowed like a field,
Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble,^(E)
the temple hill^(F) a mound overgrown with thickets.’^[a]^(G)
