^23 (A)But they did not obey nor incline their ear, but ^[a]made their neck stiff, that they might not hear nor receive instruction.

¹³ “Thus says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: ‘Go and tell the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem, “Will you not ^(A)receive instruction to ^[a]obey My words?” says the Lord. ¹⁴ “The words of Jonadab the son of Rechab, which he commanded his sons, not to drink wine, are performed; for to this day they drink none, and obey their father’s commandment. ^(B)But although I have spoken to you, ^(C)rising early and speaking, you did not ^[b]obey Me. ¹⁵ I have also sent to you all My ^(D)servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ^(E)‘Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will ^(F)dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me.

³³ And they have turned to Me the ^(A)back, and not the face; though I taught them, ^(B)rising up early and teaching them, yet they have not listened to receive instruction.

⁸ I ^[a]dismissed the three shepherds ^(A)in one month. My soul loathed them, and their soul also abhorred me. ⁹ Then I said, “I will not feed you. ^(B)Let what is dying die, and what is perishing perish. Let those that are left eat each other’s flesh.”
