⁶ Do not go after other gods to serve them and worship them, and do not provoke Me to anger with the works of your hands; and I will not harm you.’

¹⁹ Then it shall be, if you by any means forget the Lord your God, and follow other gods, and serve them and worship them, ^(A)I testify against you this day that you shall surely perish.

¹⁵ I have also sent to you all My ^(A)servants the prophets, rising up early and sending them, saying, ^(B)‘Turn now everyone from his evil way, amend your doings, and do not go after other gods to serve them; then you will ^(C)dwell in the land which I have given you and your fathers.’ But you have not inclined your ear, nor obeyed Me.

⁶ if you do not oppress the stranger, the fatherless, and the widow, and do not shed innocent blood in this place, ^(A)or walk after other gods to your hurt,

³⁵ with whom the Lord had made a covenant and charged them, saying: ^(A)“You shall not fear other gods, nor ^(B)bow down to them nor serve them nor sacrifice to them;

¹⁴ You shall not go after other gods, ^(A)the gods of the peoples who are all around you

^9 (A)Will you steal, murder, commit adultery, swear falsely, burn incense to Baal, and ^(B)walk after other gods whom you do not know,

^22 (A)Now Judah did evil in the sight of the Lord, and they ^(B)provoked Him to jealousy with their sins which they committed, more than all that their fathers had done.

⁴ For it was so, when Solomon was old, ^(A)that his wives turned his heart after other gods; and his ^(B)heart was not ^[a]loyal to the Lord his God, ^(C)as was the heart of his father David. ⁵ For Solomon went after ^(D)Ashtoreth the goddess of the Sidonians, and after ^(E)Milcom^[b] the abomination of the ^(F)Ammonites. ⁶ Solomon did evil in the sight of the Lord, and did not fully follow the Lord, as did his father David. ^7 (G)Then Solomon built a ^[c]high place for ^(H)Chemosh the abomination of Moab, on ^(I)the hill that is east of Jerusalem, and for Molech the abomination of the people of Ammon. ⁸ And he did likewise for all his foreign wives, who burned incense and sacrificed to their gods.

⁹ So the Lord became angry with Solomon, because his heart had turned from the Lord God of Israel, ^(J)who had appeared to him twice, ¹⁰ and ^(K)had commanded him concerning this thing, that he should not go after other gods; but he did not keep what the Lord had commanded.
