John 8:3-11
English Standard Version
3 The scribes and the Pharisees brought a woman who had been caught in adultery, and placing her in the midst 4 they said to him, “Teacher, this woman has been caught in the act of adultery. 5 Now (A)in the Law, Moses commanded us (B)to stone such women. So what do you say?” 6 This they said (C)to test him, (D)that they might have some charge to bring against him. Jesus bent down and wrote with his finger on the ground. 7 And as they continued to ask him, he stood up and said to them, (E)“Let him who is without sin among you (F)be the first to throw a stone at her.” 8 And once more he bent down and wrote on the ground. 9 But when they heard it, they went away one by one, beginning with the older ones, and Jesus was left alone with the woman standing before him. 10 Jesus stood up and said to her, “Woman, where are they? Philemon 10-16
English Standard Version
10 I appeal to you for (A)my child, (B)Onesimus,[a] (C)whose father I became in my imprisonment. 11 (Formerly he was useless to you, but now he is indeed useful to you and to me.) 12 I am sending him back to you, sending my very heart. 13 I would have been glad to keep him with me, in order that he might serve me (D)on your behalf (E)during my imprisonment for the gospel, 14 but I preferred to do nothing without your consent in order that your goodness might not be (F)by compulsion but of your own accord. 15 For this perhaps is why (G)he was parted from you for a while, that you might have him back forever, 16 (H)no longer as a bondservant[b] but more than a bondservant, as (I)a beloved brother—especially to me, but how much more to you, (J)both in the flesh and in the Lord.
