12 (A)Blessed is a man who perseveres under trial; for once he has [a]been approved, he will receive (B)the crown of life which the Lord (C)has promised to those who (D)love Him. 13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “(E)I am being tempted [b]by God”; for God cannot be tempted [c]by evil, and He Himself does not tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust. 15 Then (F)when lust has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and when (G)sin [d]is accomplished, it brings forth death. 16 (H)Do not be [e]deceived, (I)my beloved brethren. 17 Every good thing given and every perfect gift is (J)from above, coming down from (K)the Father of lights, (L)with whom there is no variation or [f]shifting shadow. 18 In the exercise of (M)His will He (N)brought us forth by (O)the word of truth, so that we would be [g]a kind of (P)first fruits [h]among His creatures.

19 [i]This (Q)you know, (R)my beloved brethren. But everyone must be quick to hear, (S)slow to speak and (T)slow to anger; 20 for (U)the anger of man does not achieve the righteousness of God. 21 Therefore, (V)putting aside all filthiness and all [j]that remains of wickedness, in [k]humility receive (W)the word implanted, which is able to save your souls. 22 (X)But prove yourselves doers of the word, and not merely hearers who delude themselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man who looks at his [l]natural face (Y)in a mirror; 24 for once he has looked at himself and gone away, [m]he has immediately forgotten what kind of person he was. 25 But one who looks intently at the perfect law, (Z)the law of liberty, and abides by it, not having become a forgetful hearer but [n]an effectual doer, this man will be (AA)blessed in [o]what he does.
