6 Maar Hij geeft ons steeds meer genade. Daarom staat er in de Boeken: ‘God keert Zich tegen de hoogmoedigen, maar Hij is genadig voor wie nederig is.’
7 Onderwerp u dus aan God, maar verzet u tegen de duivel en hij zal van u wegvluchten. 8 Ga dichter naar God toe, dan komt God dichter bij u. Was uw handen, zondaars, u die op twee gedachten hinkt, laat uw hart zuiver voor God zijn.

7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil,(B) and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you.(C) Wash your hands,(D) you sinners, and purify your hearts,(E) you double-minded.(F)
