Ang Mensahe Tungkol sa Samaria
28 Nakakaawa ang Samaria, na ang katulad ay koronang bulaklak na karangalan ng mga lasenggong pinuno ng Israel. Ang lungsod ng Samaria ay nasa matabang lambak, pero ang kanyang kagandahan ay mawawala katulad ng bulaklak na nalalanta. 2 Makinig kayo! Ang Panginoon ay may inihahandang malakas at makapangyarihang bansa na wawasak sa Samaria. Katulad ito ng mapaminsalang bagyo at rumaragasang baha. 3 Tinapak-tapakan niya ang Samaria, ang koronang bulaklak na karangalan ng mga lasenggong pinuno ng Israel. 4 Ang lungsod na ito ay nasa matabang lambak, pero ang kagandahan nito ay mawawala katulad ng bulaklak na nalalanta. Malalagas agad ito katulad ng unang mga bunga ng igos na kinukuha at kinakain agad ng bawat makakita.
5 Sa araw na iyon, ang Panginoong Makapangyarihan ay magiging tulad ng magandang koronang bulaklak para sa nalalabi niyang mga mamamayan. 6 Bibigyan niya ng hangarin ang mga hukom na pairalin ang katarungan. At bibigyan niya ng tapang ang mga tagapagbantay ng lungsod laban sa mga kaaway.
7 Pero ngayon, pasuray-suray ang mga pari at mga propeta, at wala na sa tamang pag-iisip. Mali ang pagkakaunawa ng mga propeta sa mga pangitain, at hindi tama ang mga desisyon ng mga pari. 8 Ang mga mesa nilaʼy puno ng mga suka nila at walang parteng malinis. 9 Dumadaing sila at sinasabi, “Ano bang palagay niya sa atin, mga batang kaaawat pa lamang sa pagsuso? Bakit ganyan ang tinuturo niya sa atin? 10 Tingnan mo kung magturo siya; paisa-isang letra, paisa-isang linya, at paisa-isang aralin.”
11 Dahil sa ayaw nilang makinig, makikipag-usap ang Panginoon sa mga taong ito sa pamamagitan ng mga dayuhang iba ang wika. 12 Ito ang sasabihin niya, “Mararanasan ninyo ang kapahingahan sa inyong lupain.” Pero ayaw pa rin nilang makinig.
13 Kung kaya, tuturuan sila ng Panginoon ng paisa-isang letra, paisa-isang linya, at paisa-isang aralin. At sa paglalakad nilaʼy mabubuwal sila, masusugatan, mabibitag, at mahuhuli.
14 Kaya kayong mga nangungutyang mga pinuno ng mga mamamayan ng Jerusalem, pakinggan ninyo ang Panginoon! 15 Sapagkat nagmamalaki kayo at nagsasabing, “Nakipagkasundo kami sa kamatayan para hindi kami mamatay, at nakipagkasundo kami sa lugar ng mga patay para hindi kami madala roon. Kung kaya, hindi kami mapapahamak kahit na dumating ang mga sakuna na parang baha, dahil sa kami ay umaasang maliligtas sa pamamagitan ng aming pagsisinungaling at pandaraya.”
16 Kaya ito ang sinabi ng Panginoong Dios: “Makinig kayo! Maglalagay ako ng batong pundasyon sa Zion, batong maaasahan, matibay, at mahalaga. Ang mga sumasampalataya sa kanya ay huwag maging padalos-dalos[a] sa kanilang mga ginagawa. 17 Gagawin kong sukatan ang katarungan at katuwiran. Ipapatangay ko sa bagyo at baha ang kasinungalingan na inaasahan ninyong makakapagligtas sa inyo. 18 Magiging walang kabuluhan ang pakikipagkasundo ninyo sa kamatayan at ang pakikipagkasundo ninyo sa lugar ng mga patay. Sapagkat mapapahamak kayo kapag dumating na ang mga sakuna na parang baha. 19 Palagi itong darating sa inyo, araw-araw, sa umaga at sa gabi, at tiyak na mapapahamak kayo.”
Matatakot kayo kapag naunawaan ninyo ang mensaheng ito. 20 Sapagkat kayoʼy matutulad sa taong maiksi ang higaan at makitid ang kumot.[b] 21 Ang totoo, sasalakay ang Panginoon katulad ng ginawa niya sa Bundok ng Perazim at sa Lambak ng Gibeon. Gagawin niya ang hindi inaasahan ng kanyang mga mamamayan.
22 Kaya ngayon, huwag na kayong mangutya, baka dagdagan pa niya ang parusa niya sa inyo. Sapagkat napakinggan ko mismo ang utos ng Panginoong Dios na Makapangyarihan na wawasakin niya ang inyong buong lupain. 23 Pakinggan ninyong mabuti ang sasabihin ko. 24 Ang magsasaka baʼy lagi na lamang mag-aararo at hindi na magtatanim? 25 Hindi baʼt kapag handa na ang lupa, sinasabuyan niya ng sari-saring binhi ang bawat bukid, katulad halimbawa ng mga pampalasa, trigo, sebada at iba pang mga binhi? 26 Alam niya ang dapat niyang gawin dahil tinuturuan siya ng Dios. 27 Hindi niya ginagamitan ng mabibigat na panggiik ang mga inaning pampalasa, kundi pinapagpag niya o pinapalo ng patpat. 28 Ang trigo na ginagawang tinapay ay madaling madurog kaya hindi niya ito gaanong ginigiik. Ginagamitan niya ito ng karitong panggiik, pero sinisiguro niyang hindi ito madudurog. 29 Ang kaalamang ito ay mula sa Panginoong Makapangyarihan. Napakabuti ng kanyang mga payo, at kahanga-hanga ang kanyang kaalaman.

Woe to Ephraim and Jerusalem
28 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim,
Whose glorious beauty is a fading flower
Which is at the head of the [a]verdant valleys,
To those who are overcome with wine!
2 Behold, the Lord has a mighty and strong one,
(A)Like a tempest of hail and a destroying storm,
Like a flood of mighty waters overflowing,
Who will bring them down to the earth with His hand.
3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim,
Will be trampled underfoot;
4 And the glorious beauty is a fading flower
Which is at the head of the [b]verdant valley,
Like the first fruit before the summer,
Which an observer sees;
He eats it up while it is still in his hand.
5 In that day the Lord of hosts will be
For a crown of glory and a diadem of beauty
To the remnant of His people,
6 For a spirit of justice to him who sits in judgment,
And for strength to those who turn back the battle at the gate.
7 But they also (B)have erred through wine,
And through intoxicating drink are out of the way;
(C)The priest and the prophet have erred through intoxicating drink,
They are swallowed up by wine,
They are out of the way through intoxicating drink;
They err in vision, they stumble in judgment.
8 For all tables are full of vomit and filth;
No place is clean.
9 “Whom(D) will he teach knowledge?
And whom will he make to understand the message?
Those just weaned from milk?
Those just drawn from the breasts?
10 (E)For precept must be upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little.”
11 For with (F)stammering lips and another tongue
He will speak to this people,
12 To whom He said, “This is the (G)rest with which
You may cause the weary to rest,”
And, “This is the refreshing”;
Yet they would not hear.
13 But the word of the Lord was to them,
“Precept upon precept, precept upon precept,
Line upon line, line upon line,
Here a little, there a little,”
That they might go and fall backward, and be broken
And snared and caught.
14 Therefore hear the word of the Lord, you scornful men,
Who rule this people who are in Jerusalem,
15 Because you have said, “We have made a covenant with death,
And with Sheol we are in agreement.
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
It will not come to us,
(H)For we have made lies our refuge,
And under falsehood we have hidden ourselves.”
A Cornerstone in Zion
16 Therefore thus says the Lord God:
“Behold, I lay in Zion (I)a stone for a foundation,
A tried stone, a precious cornerstone, a sure foundation;
Whoever believes will not act hastily.
17 Also I will make justice the measuring line,
And righteousness the plummet;
The hail will sweep away the refuge of lies,
And the waters will overflow the hiding place.
18 Your covenant with death will be annulled,
And your agreement with Sheol will not stand;
When the overflowing scourge passes through,
Then you will be trampled down by it.
19 As often as it goes out it will take you;
For morning by morning it will pass over,
And by day and by night;
It will be a terror just to understand the report.”
20 For the bed is too short to stretch out on,
And the covering so narrow that one cannot wrap himself in it.
21 For the Lord will rise up as at Mount (J)Perazim,
He will be angry as in the Valley of (K)Gibeon—
That He may do His work, (L)His awesome work,
And bring to pass His act, His [c]unusual act.
22 Now therefore, do not be mockers,
Lest your bonds be made strong;
For I have heard from the Lord God of hosts,
(M)A [d]destruction determined even upon the whole earth.
Listen to the Teaching of God
23 Give ear and hear my voice,
Listen and hear my speech.
24 Does the plowman keep plowing all day to sow?
Does he keep turning his soil and breaking the clods?
25 When he has leveled its surface,
Does he not sow the black cummin
And scatter the cummin,
Plant the wheat in rows,
The barley in the appointed place,
And the [e]spelt in its place?
26 For He instructs him in right judgment,
His God teaches him.
27 For the black cummin is not threshed with a threshing sledge,
Nor is a cartwheel rolled over the cummin;
But the black cummin is beaten out with a stick,
And the cummin with a rod.
28 Bread flour must be ground;
Therefore he does not thresh it forever,
Break it with his cartwheel,
Or crush it with his horsemen.
29 This also comes from the Lord of hosts,
(N)Who is wonderful in counsel and excellent in [f]guidance.

28 Woe to the crown of pride, to the drunkards of Ephraim, whose glorious beauty is a fading flower, which are on the head of the fat valleys of them that are overcome with wine!
2 Behold, the Lord hath a mighty and strong one, which as a tempest of hail and a destroying storm, as a flood of mighty waters overflowing, shall cast down to the earth with the hand.
3 The crown of pride, the drunkards of Ephraim, shall be trodden under feet:
4 And the glorious beauty, which is on the head of the fat valley, shall be a fading flower, and as the hasty fruit before the summer; which when he that looketh upon it seeth, while it is yet in his hand he eateth it up.
5 In that day shall the Lord of hosts be for a crown of glory, and for a diadem of beauty, unto the residue of his people,
6 And for a spirit of judgment to him that sitteth in judgment, and for strength to them that turn the battle to the gate.
7 But they also have erred through wine, and through strong drink are out of the way; the priest and the prophet have erred through strong drink, they are swallowed up of wine, they are out of the way through strong drink; they err in vision, they stumble in judgment.

14 Wherefore hear the word of the Lord, ye scornful men, that rule this people which is in Jerusalem.
15 Because ye have said, We have made a covenant with death, and with hell are we at agreement; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, it shall not come unto us: for we have made lies our refuge, and under falsehood have we hid ourselves:
16 Therefore thus saith the Lord God, Behold, I lay in Zion for a foundation a stone, a tried stone, a precious corner stone, a sure foundation: he that believeth shall not make haste.
17 Judgment also will I lay to the line, and righteousness to the plummet: and the hail shall sweep away the refuge of lies, and the waters shall overflow the hiding place.
18 And your covenant with death shall be disannulled, and your agreement with hell shall not stand; when the overflowing scourge shall pass through, then ye shall be trodden down by it.
19 From the time that it goeth forth it shall take you: for morning by morning shall it pass over, by day and by night: and it shall be a vexation only to understand the report.
20 For the bed is shorter than that a man can stretch himself on it: and the covering narrower than that he can wrap himself in it.
21 For the Lord shall rise up as in mount Perazim, he shall be wroth as in the valley of Gibeon, that he may do his work, his strange work; and bring to pass his act, his strange act.
22 Now therefore be ye not mockers, lest your bands be made strong: for I have heard from the Lord God of hosts a consumption, even determined upon the whole earth.
23 Give ye ear, and hear my voice; hearken, and hear my speech.
24 Doth the plowman plow all day to sow? doth he open and break the clods of his ground?
25 When he hath made plain the face thereof, doth he not cast abroad the fitches, and scatter the cummin, and cast in the principal wheat and the appointed barley and the rie in their place?
26 For his God doth instruct him to discretion, and doth teach him.
27 For the fitches are not threshed with a threshing instrument, neither is a cart wheel turned about upon the cummin; but the fitches are beaten out with a staff, and the cummin with a rod.
28 Bread corn is bruised; because he will not ever be threshing it, nor break it with the wheel of his cart, nor bruise it with his horsemen.
29 This also cometh forth from the Lord of hosts, which is wonderful in counsel, and excellent in working.
