^18 (A)For wickedness burns like a fire;
It consumes briars and thorns;
It also sets the thickets of the forest aflame
And they roll upward in a column of smoke.
¹⁹ By the ^(B)wrath of the Lord of armies the ^(C)land is burned,
And the ^(D)people are like fuel for the fire;
No ^(E)one spares his brother.

¹⁶ Therefore the Lord, the ^[a]God of armies, will send a ^(A)wasting disease among his ^(B)stout warriors;
And under his ^(C)glory a fire will be kindled like a burning flame.

¹⁴ Behold, they have become ^(A)like stubble,
^(B)Fire burns them;
They cannot save themselves from the power of the flame;
There will be ^(C)no coal to warm by
Nor a fire to sit before!
