¹⁵ Because you have said, “We have made a ^(A)covenant with death,
And with ^[a]Sheol we have made a ^[b]pact.
^(B)The overwhelming ^[c]scourge will not reach us when it passes by,
For we have made ^(C)falsehood our refuge and we have ^(D)concealed ourselves with deception.”

¹⁹ O Lord, my ^(A)strength and my stronghold,
And my ^(B)refuge in the day of distress,
To You the ^(C)nations will come
From the ends of the earth and say,
“Our fathers have inherited nothing but ^(D)falsehood,
Futility and ^[a](E)things of no profit.”
