Isaiah 65:17-25

New International Version

New Heavens and a New Earth

¹⁷“See, I will create
    new heavens and a new earth.^(A)
The former things will not be remembered,^(B)
    nor will they come to mind.
¹⁸But be glad and rejoice^(C) forever
    in what I will create,
for I will create Jerusalem^(D) to be a delight
    and its people a joy.
¹⁹I will rejoice^(E) over Jerusalem
    and take delight^(F) in my people;
the sound of weeping and of crying^(G)
    will be heard in it no more.

²⁰“Never again will there be in it
    an infant^(H) who lives but a few days,
    or an old man who does not live out his years;^(I)
the one who dies at a hundred
    will be thought a mere child;
the one who fails to reach^[a] a hundred
    will be considered accursed.
²¹They will build houses^(J) and dwell in them;
    they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit.^(K)
²²No longer will they build houses and others live in them,^(L)
    or plant and others eat.
For as the days of a tree,^(M)
    so will be the days^(N) of my people;
my chosen^(O) ones will long enjoy
    the work of their hands.
²³They will not labor in vain,^(P)
    nor will they bear children doomed to misfortune;^(Q)
for they will be a people blessed^(R) by the Lord,
    they and their descendants^(S) with them.
²⁴Before they call^(T) I will answer;^(U)
    while they are still speaking^(V) I will hear.
²⁵The wolf and the lamb^(W) will feed together,
    and the lion will eat straw like the ox,^(X)
    and dust will be the serpent’s^(Y) food.
They will neither harm nor destroy
    on all my holy mountain,”^(Z)
says the Lord.

¹Great is the Lord,^(A) and most worthy of praise,^(B)
in the city of our God,^(C) his holy mountain.^(D)

²Beautiful^(E) in its loftiness,
    the joy of the whole earth,
like the heights of Zaphon^[b]^(F) is Mount Zion,^(G)
    the city of the Great King.^(H)
³God is in her citadels;^(I)
    he has shown himself to be her fortress.^(J)

⁴When the kings joined forces,
    when they advanced together,^(K)
⁵they saw her and were astounded;
    they fled in terror.^(L)
⁶Trembling seized^(M) them there,
    pain like that of a woman in labor.^(N)
⁷You destroyed them like ships of Tarshish^(O)
    shattered by an east wind.^(P)

⁸As we have heard,
    so we have seen
in the city of the Lord Almighty,
    in the city of our God:
God makes her secure
    forever.^[c]^(Q)

⁹Within your temple, O God,
    we meditate^(R) on your unfailing love.^(S)
¹⁰Like your name,^(T) O God,
    your praise reaches to the ends of the earth;^(U)
    your right hand is filled with righteousness.
¹¹Mount Zion rejoices,
    the villages of Judah are glad
    because of your judgments.^(V)

²⁸And we know that in all things God works for the good^(A) of those who love him, who^[a] have been called^(B) according to his purpose.^(C) ²⁹For those God foreknew^(D) he also predestined^(E) to be conformed to the image of his Son,^(F) that he might be the firstborn^(G) among many brothers and sisters. ³⁰And those he predestined,^(H) he also called;^(I) those he called, he also justified;^(J) those he justified, he also glorified.^(K)

More Than Conquerors

³¹What, then, shall we say in response to these things?^(L) If God is for us,^(M) who can be against us?^(N) ³²He who did not spare his own Son,^(O) but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things? ³³Who will bring any charge^(P) against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies. ³⁴Who then is the one who condemns?^(Q) No one. Christ Jesus who died^(R)—more than that, who was raised to life^(S)—is at the right hand of God^(T) and is also interceding for us.^(U) ³⁵Who shall separate us from the love of Christ?^(V) Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?^(W) ³⁶As it is written:

“For your sake we face death all day long;
we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”^[b]^(X)

³⁷No, in all these things we are more than conquerors^(Y) through him who loved us.^(Z) ³⁸For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons,^[c] neither the present nor the future,^(AA) nor any powers,^(AB) ³⁹neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God^(AC) that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.^(AD)

¹⁵He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.^(B) ¹⁶Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe will be condemned.^(C) ¹⁷And these signs^(D) will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons;^(E) they will speak in new tongues;^(F) ¹⁸they will pick up snakes^(G) with their hands; and when they drink deadly poison, it will not hurt them at all; they will place their hands on^(H) sick people, and they will get well.”
