Isaiah 54:4-8
New International Version
4 “Do not be afraid;(A) you will not be put to shame.(B)
Do not fear disgrace;(C) you will not be humiliated.
You will forget the shame of your youth(D)
and remember no more the reproach(E) of your widowhood.(F)
5 For your Maker(G) is your husband(H)—
the Lord Almighty is his name—
the Holy One(I) of Israel is your Redeemer;(J)
he is called the God of all the earth.(K)
6 The Lord will call you back(L)
as if you were a wife deserted(M) and distressed in spirit—
a wife who married young,(N)
only to be rejected,” says your God.
7 “For a brief moment(O) I abandoned(P) you,
but with deep compassion(Q) I will bring you back.(R)
8 In a surge of anger(S)
I hid(T) my face from you for a moment,
but with everlasting kindness(U)
I will have compassion(V) on you,”
says the Lord your Redeemer.(W)
Isaiah 53:4-6
New International Version
4 Surely he took up our pain
and bore our suffering,(A)
yet we considered him punished by God,(B)
stricken by him, and afflicted.(C)
5 But he was pierced(D) for our transgressions,(E)
he was crushed(F) for our iniquities;
the punishment(G) that brought us peace(H) was on him,
and by his wounds(I) we are healed.(J)
6 We all, like sheep, have gone astray,(K)
each of us has turned to our own way;(L)
and the Lord has laid on him
the iniquity(M) of us all.
