² Why, when I came, was there no man?
Why, when I called, was there none to answer?
Is My hand shortened at all that it cannot redeem?
Or have I no power to deliver?
Indeed with My ^(A)rebuke I dry up the sea,
I make the rivers a wilderness;
Their fish stink because there is no water,
And die of thirst.

¹¹ So ^(A)the ransomed of the Lord shall return,
And come to Zion with singing,
With everlasting joy on their heads.
They shall obtain joy and gladness;
Sorrow and sighing shall flee away.

^10 (A)I will also bring them back from the land of Egypt,
And gather them from Assyria.
I will bring them into the land of Gilead and Lebanon,
^(B)Until no more room is found for them.

^11 (A)He shall pass through the sea with affliction,
And strike the waves of the sea:
All the depths of ^[a]the River shall dry up.
Then ^(B)the pride of Assyria shall be brought down,
And ^(C)the scepter of Egypt shall depart.
