Isaiah 38:17-19
Lexham English Bible
17 Look! Bitterness was bitter to me for peace.
And you were the one who loved[a] my life from the pit of destruction,
for you have cast all my sins behind your back.
18 For Sheol cannot praise you; death cannot praise you.
Those who go down to the pit cannot hope for your faithfulness.
19 The living, the living one praises you like me today;
a father will make your faithfulness known to children.

17 Surely it was for my benefit(A)
that I suffered such anguish.(B)
In your love you kept me
from the pit(C) of destruction;
you have put all my sins(D)

18 For the grave(F) cannot praise you,
death cannot sing your praise;(G)
those who go down to the pit(H)
cannot hope for your faithfulness.
19 The living, the living—they praise(I) you,
as I am doing today;
parents tell their children(J)
about your faithfulness.

That I had great bitterness;
But You have lovingly delivered my soul from the pit of corruption,
For You have cast all my sins behind Your back.

Death cannot praise You;

19 The living, the living man, he shall praise You,
As I do this day;
