Isaiah 33:9-17

New International Version

⁹ The land dries up^(A) and wastes away,
    Lebanon^(B) is ashamed and withers;^(C)
Sharon^(D) is like the Arabah,
    and Bashan^(E) and Carmel^(F) drop their leaves.

¹⁰ “Now will I arise,^(G)” says the Lord.
    “Now will I be exalted;^(H)
    now will I be lifted up.
¹¹ You conceive^(I) chaff,
    you give birth^(J) to straw;
    your breath is a fire^(K) that consumes you.
¹² The peoples will be burned to ashes;^(L)
    like cut thornbushes^(M) they will be set ablaze.^(N)”

¹³ You who are far away,^(O) hear^(P) what I have done;
    you who are near, acknowledge my power!
¹⁴ The sinners^(Q) in Zion are terrified;
    trembling^(R) grips the godless:
“Who of us can dwell with the consuming fire?^(S)
    Who of us can dwell with everlasting burning?”
¹⁵ Those who walk righteously^(T)
    and speak what is right,^(U)
who reject gain from extortion^(V)
    and keep their hands from accepting bribes,^(W)
who stop their ears against plots of murder
    and shut their eyes^(X) against contemplating evil—
¹⁶ they are the ones who will dwell on the heights,^(Y)
    whose refuge^(Z) will be the mountain fortress.^(AA)
Their bread will be supplied,
    and water will not fail^(AB) them.

¹⁷ Your eyes will see the king^(AC) in his beauty^(AD)
    and view a land that stretches afar.^(AE)
