⁶ Wail! For the day of the Lord is near.^(A)
It will come as destruction from the Almighty.^(B)

⁹ Look, the day^(A) of the Lord is coming—
cruel, with fury and burning anger—
to make the earth a desolation
and to destroy its sinners.^(B)

Wail,^(A) “Woe because of that day!”
³ For a day is near;
a day belonging to the Lord is near.^(B)
It will be a day of clouds,^(C)
a time of doom^[a] for the nations.

¹¹ The Lord makes his voice heard^(A)
in the presence of his army.^(B)
His camp is very large;
those who carry out his command are powerful.^(C)
Indeed, the day of the Lord is terrible and dreadful^(D)—
who can endure it?^(E)

³¹ The sun will be turned to darkness
and the moon to blood^(A)
before the great and terrible day of the Lord comes.^(B)
