Isaiah 1:11-16
New American Standard Bible
11 “(A)What are your many sacrifices to Me?”
Says the Lord.
“I [a]have had enough of burnt offerings of rams
And the fat of fattened cattle;
And I take no pleasure in the blood of bulls, lambs, or goats.
12 When you come (B)to appear before Me,
Who requires [b]of you this trampling of My courtyards?
13 Do not go on bringing your worthless offerings,
(C)Incense is an abomination to Me.
(D)New moon and Sabbath, the (E)proclamation of an assembly—
I cannot (F)endure wrongdoing and the festive assembly.
14 [c]I hate your new moon festivals and your (G)appointed feasts,
They have become a burden to Me;
I am (H)tired of bearing them.
15 So when you (I)spread out your hands in prayer,
(J)I will hide My eyes from you;
Yes, even though you (K)offer many prayers,
I will not be listening.
(L)Your hands are [d]covered with blood.
16 “(M)Wash yourselves, (N)make yourselves clean;
(O)Remove the evil of your deeds from My sight.
(P)Stop doing evil,

3 “But the one who slaughters an ox is like one who kills a person;
The one who sacrifices a lamb is like one who breaks a dog’s neck;
One who offers a grain offering is like one who offers (A)pig’s blood;
One who [a](B)burns incense is like one who blesses an idol.
As they have chosen their (C)own ways,
And their souls delight in their (D)abominations,

10 Then I will (A)turn your festivals into mourning,
And all your songs into songs of mourning;
And I will put (B)sackcloth around everyone’s waist,
And [a]baldness on every head.
And I will make it (C)like a time of mourning for an only son,
And the end of it will be like a bitter day.
