6 Maar als iemand niet gelooft, kan God niet tevreden over hem zijn. Wie tot God komt, moet geloven dat Hij bestaat en beloont wie Hem zoeken.
7 Noach vertrouwde op God. Toen God hem voor de toekomst waarschuwde, geloofde Noach Hem, hoewel niets erop wees dat er een grote overstroming zou komen. Hij deed wat God hem opdroeg en bouwde een ark om zijn gezin te redden. Zijn vertrouwen maakte het ongeloof van de wereld zichtbaar en door dat vertrouwen werd Hij een van hen die voor God rechtvaardig zijn.
8 Abraham vertrouwde op God. Toen God hem zei dat hij zijn vaderland moest verlaten en naar een land moest gaan dat God hem zou geven, gehoorzaamde hij. Maar hij wist niet eens waar hij naar toeging.

6 And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him(A) must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.
7 By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen,(B) in holy fear built an ark(C) to save his family.(D) By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that is in keeping with faith.(E)
8 By faith Abraham, when called to go to a place he would later receive as his inheritance,(F) obeyed and went,(G) even though he did not know where he was going.

7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
