Oracolo contro Ammon
49 Sugli Ammoniti.
Dice il Signore:
«Israele non ha forse figli,
non ha egli alcun erede?
Perché Milcom ha ereditato la terra di Gad
e il suo popolo ne ha occupate le città?
2 Perciò ecco, verranno giorni
- dice il Signore -
nei quali io farò udire a Rabbà degli Ammoniti
fragore di guerra;
essa diventerà un cumulo di rovine,
le sue borgate saranno consumate dal fuoco,
Israele spoglierà i suoi spogliatori,
dice il Signore.
3 Urla, Chesbòn, arriva il devastatore;
gridate, borgate di Rabbà,
cingetevi di sacco, innalzate lamenti
e andate raminghe con tagli sulla pelle,
perché Milcom andrà in esilio,
insieme con i suoi sacerdoti e i suoi capi.
4 Perché ti vanti delle tue valli,
figlia ribelle?
Confidi nelle tue scorte ed esclami:
Chi verrà contro di me?
5 Ecco io manderò su di te il terrore
- parola del Signore Dio degli eserciti -
da tutti i dintorni.
Voi sarete scacciati, ognuno per la sua via,
e non vi sarà nessuno che raduni i fuggiaschi.
6 Ma dopo cambierò la sorte
degli Ammoniti».
Parola del Signore.
Oracolo contro Edom
7 Su Edom.
Così dice il Signore degli eserciti:
«Non c'è più sapienza in Teman?
E' scomparso il consiglio dei saggi?
E' svanita la loro sapienza?
8 Fuggite, partite, nascondetevi in un luogo segreto,
abitanti di Dedan,
poiché io mando su Esaù la sua rovina,
il tempo del suo castigo.
9 Se vendemmiatori verranno da te,
non lasceranno nulla da racimolare.
Se ladri notturni verranno da te,
saccheggeranno quanto loro piace.
10 Poiché io intendo spogliare Esaù,
rivelo i suoi nascondigli
ed egli non ha dove nascondersi.
La sua stirpe, i suoi fratelli, i suoi vicini
sono distrutti ed egli non è più.
11 Lascia i tuoi orfani, io li farò vivere,
le tue vedove confidino in me!
12 Poiché così dice il Signore: Ecco, coloro che non erano obbligati a bere il calice lo devono bere e tu pretendi di rimanere impunito? Non resterai impunito, ma dovrai berlo 13 poiché io ho giurato per me stesso - dice il Signore - che Bozra diventerà un orrore, un obbrobrio, un deserto, una maledizione e tutte le sue città saranno ridotte a rovine perenni.
14 Ho udito un messaggio da parte del Signore,
un messaggero è stato inviato fra le nazioni:
Adunatevi e marciate contro di lui!
Alzatevi per la battaglia.
15 Poiché ecco, ti renderò piccolo fra i popoli
e disprezzato fra gli uomini.
16 La tua arroganza ti ha indotto in errore,
la superbia del tuo cuore;
tu che abiti nelle caverne delle rocce,
che ti aggrappi alle cime dei colli,
anche se ponessi, come l'aquila, in alto il tuo nido,
di lassù ti farò precipitare. Oracolo del Signore.
17 Edom sarà oggetto di orrore; chiunque passerà lì vicino ne resterà attonito e fischierà davanti a tutte le sue piaghe. 18 Come nello sconvolgimento di Sòdoma e Gomorra e delle città vicine - dice il Signore - non vi abiterà più uomo né vi fisserà la propria dimora un figlio d'uomo. 19 Ecco, come un leone sale dalla boscaglia del Giordano verso i prati sempre verdi, così in un baleno io lo scaccerò di là e il mio eletto porrò su di esso; poiché chi è come me? Chi può citarmi in giudizio? Chi è dunque il pastore che può resistere davanti a me? 20 Per questo ascoltate il progetto che il Signore ha fatto contro Edom e le decisioni che egli ha prese contro gli abitanti di Teman.
Certo, trascineranno via anche i più piccoli del gregge,
e per loro sarà desolato il loro prato.
21 Al fragore della loro caduta tremerà la terra.
Un grido! Fino al Mare Rosso se ne ode l'eco.
22 Ecco, come l'aquila, egli sale e si libra,
espande le ali su Bozra.
In quel giorno il cuore dei prodi di Edom
sarà come il cuore di una donna nei dolori del parto».
Oracolo contro città sire
23 Su Damasco.
«Amat e Arpad sono piene di confusione,
perché hanno sentito una cattiva notizia;
esse sono agitate come il mare, sono in angoscia,
non possono calmarsi.
24 Spossata è Damasco, si volge per fuggire;
un tremito l'ha colta,
angoscia e dolori l'assalgono
come una partoriente.
25 Come fu abbandonata la città gloriosa,
la città del tripudio?
26 Cadranno i suoi giovani nelle sue piazze
e tutti i suoi guerrieri periranno in quel giorno.
Oracolo del Signore degli eserciti.
27 Appiccherò il fuoco alle mura di Damasco
e divorerà i palazzi di Ben-Hadàd».
Oracolo contro le tribù arabe
28 Su Kedàr e sui regni di Cazòr, che Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia sconfisse.
Così dice il Signore:
«Su, marciate contro Kedàr,
saccheggiate i figli dell'oriente.
29 Prendete le loro tende e le loro pecore,
i loro teli da tenda, tutti i loro attrezzi;
portate via i loro cammelli;
un grido si leverà su di loro: Terrore all'intorno!
30 Fuggite, andate lontano, nascondetevi in luoghi segreti
o abitanti di Cazòr - dice il Signore -
perché ha ideato un disegno contro di voi.
Nabucodònosor re di Babilonia
ha preparato un piano contro di voi.
31 Su, marciate contro la nazione tranquilla,
che vive in sicurezza. Oracolo del Signore.
Essa non ha né porte né sbarre
e vive isolata.
32 I suoi cammelli saranno portati via come preda
e la massa dei suoi greggi come bottino.
Disperderò a tutti i venti
coloro che si tagliano i capelli alle tempie,
da ogni parte farò venire la loro rovina.
Parola del Signore.
33 Cazòr diventerà rifugio di sciacalli,
una desolazione per sempre;
nessuno vi dimorerà più,
non vi abiterà più un figlio d'uomo».
Oracolo contro Elam
34 Parola che il Signore rivolse al profeta Geremia riguardo all'Elam all'inizio del regno di Sedecìa re di Giuda.
35 «Dice il Signore degli eserciti:
Ecco io spezzerò l'arco dell'Elam,
il nerbo della sua potenza.
36 Manderò contro l'Elam i quattro venti
dalle quattro estremità del cielo
e li sparpaglierò davanti a questi venti;
non ci sarà nazione
in cui non giungeranno
i profughi dell'Elam.
37 Incuterò terrore negli Elamiti davanti ai loro nemici
e davanti a coloro che vogliono la loro vita;
manderò su di essi la sventura,
la mia ira ardente. Parola del Signore.
Manderò la spada a inseguirli
finché non li avrò sterminati.
38 Porrò il mio trono sull'Elam
e farò morire il re e i capi.
Oracolo del Signore.
39 Ma negli ultimi giorni
cambierò la sorte dell'Elam». Parola del Signore.

Profecía sobre Amón
49 Acerca de los amonitas.
Así dice el Señor:
«¿No tiene hijos Israel?
¿No tiene heredero?
¿Por qué, pues, Milcom[a] se ha apoderado de Gad(A)
Y su pueblo se ha establecido en sus ciudades?
2 -»Por tanto, vienen días», declara el Señor,
«En que haré que se oiga el grito de guerra(B)
Contra Rabá de los amonitas(C),
Y será convertida en montón de ruinas,
Y sus ciudades[b] serán incendiadas.
Entonces se apoderará Israel de los que lo poseían(D)», dice el Señor.
3 «Gime, Hesbón(E), porque Hai ha sido destruida(F).
Clamen, hijas de Rabá,
Cíñanse(G) de cilicio y laméntense,
Corran de un lado a otro por entre los muros,
Porque Milcom[c] irá al destierro
Junto con sus sacerdotes y sus príncipes(H).
4 -»¡Cómo te jactas(I) de los valles!
Tu valle se desvanece,
Hija infiel(J),
La que confía en sus tesoros(K), diciendo:
“¿Quién vendrá contra mí(L)?”.
5 -»Traigo sobre ti terror»,
Declara el Señor, Dios[d](M) de los ejércitos,
«De todos tus alrededores(N);
Y serán lanzados cada uno delante de sí,
Y no habrá quien reúna a los fugitivos(O).
6 -»Pero después restauraré
El bienestar[e](P) de los amonitas»,
Declara el Señor.
Profecía sobre Edom
7 Acerca de Edom.
Así dice el Señor(Q) de los ejércitos:
«¿No hay ya sabiduría(R) en Temán?
¿Se ha perdido el consejo(S) de los prudentes?
¿Se ha corrompido su sabiduría?
8 -»Huyan, vuelvan, moren en las profundidades,
Habitantes de Dedán(T),
Porque la ruina de Esaú traeré[f] sobre él
Al momento de castigarlo[g](U).
9 -»Si vinieran a ti vendimiadores,
¿No dejarían algunos racimos?
Si vinieran ladrones de noche,
Solo destruirían hasta que les bastara[h](V).
10 -»Pero Yo he despojado totalmente a Esaú,
He descubierto sus escondrijos(W)
Y no podrá esconderse.
Ha sido destruida su descendencia[i], sus hermanos
Y vecinos, y él ya no existe(X).
11 -»Deja a tus huérfanos, Yo los conservaré con vida;
Que tus viudas(Y) confíen en Mí».
12 Pues así dice el Señor: «Los que no estaban condenados a[j] beber la copa, ciertamente la beberán(Z), ¿y serás tú absuelto por completo? No serás absuelto, sino que ciertamente la beberás(AA). 13 Porque por Mí he jurado», declara el Señor(AB), «que Bosra será motivo de horror, de oprobio, de ruina y de maldición(AC). Todas sus ciudades se convertirán en ruinas perpetuas(AD)».
14 ¶He oído un mensaje de parte del Señor,
Y un mensajero es enviado(AE) entre las naciones, diciéndoles:
«Reúnanse y vengan contra él(AF),
Y levántense para la guerra(AG)».
15 «Pues pequeño te he hecho entre las naciones,
Despreciado entre los hombres.
16 -»En cuanto al terror que infundías[k],
Te ha engañado la soberbia de tu corazón;
Tú que vives en las hendiduras de las peñas[l],
Que ocupas la cumbre del monte.
Aunque hagas tu nido(AH) tan alto como el del águila(AI),
De allí te haré bajar», declara el Señor(AJ).
17 «Y Edom se convertirá en objeto de horror; todo el que pase por él se quedará atónito y silbará(AK) a causa de todas sus heridas(AL). 18 Como en la destrucción de Sodoma y Gomorra y de sus ciudades vecinas», dice el Señor, «nadie habitará allí, ni residirá en él hijo de hombre(AM). 19 Viene uno que subirá como león de la espesura[m] del Jordán(AN) contra la pradera de verdes pastos[n], y[o] en un instante lo haré huir de él, y al que sea escogido nombraré sobre él(AO). Porque ¿quién es como Yo(AP) y quién me citará a juicio? ¿Quién es el pastor que me podrá resistir(AQ)?».
20 Por tanto, oigan el plan que el Señor ha trazado contra Edom, y los designios que ha decretado contra los habitantes de Temán: ciertamente los arrastrarán, aun a los más pequeños del rebaño(AR); ciertamente a causa de ellos hará una desolación de su pastizal[p](AS). 21 Al estruendo de su caída tiembla la tierra; hay un clamor. Hasta el mar(AT) Rojo[q] se oye su voz. 22 Se remonta, vuela veloz como un águila y extiende Sus alas contra[r](AU) Bosra. En aquel día el corazón de los valientes de Edom será como el corazón de una mujer de parto(AV).
Profecía sobre Damasco
23 Acerca de Damasco(AW).
«Avergonzadas están Hamat y Arfad(AX).
Porque han oído malas noticias(AY),
Están desalentadas.
Hay ansiedad(AZ) como en el mar
Que no se puede calmar(BA).
24 -»Desamparada está Damasco;
Se ha vuelto para huir,
Y el pánico se ha apoderado de ella;
Angustia y dolores la oprimen
Como a mujer de parto(BB).
25 -»¿Cómo es que no ha sido abandonada la ciudad alabada,
La ciudad de Mi regocijo(BC)?
26 -»Por eso sus jóvenes caerán en sus calles,
Y todos los hombres de guerra serán
Silenciados[s] en aquel día», declara el Señor de los ejércitos(BD).
27 «Y prenderé fuego al muro de Damasco
Que consumirá los palacios[t] de Ben Adad(BE)».
Profecía sobre Cedar y Hazor
28 Acerca de Cedar y de los reinos de Hazor, que derrotó Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia. Así dice el Señor:
«Levántense, suban a Cedar
Y destruyan a los hijos(BF) del oriente(BG).
29 -»Sus tiendas(BH) y sus rebaños serán tomados;
Las cortinas de sus tiendas, todos sus bienes y sus camellos se los llevarán(BI),
Y gritarán el uno al otro: “¡Terror por todas partes(BJ)!”.
30 -»Escapen, huyan; moren en las profundidades,
Habitantes de Hazor», declara el Señor,
«Porque Nabucodonosor, rey de Babilonia(BK), ha concebido un plan contra ustedes,
Ha trazado un designio contra ustedes.
31 -»Levántense, suban contra una nación tranquila,
Que vive confiada(BL)», declara el Señor.
«No tiene puertas ni cerrojos;
Viven solitarios(BM).
32 -»Sus camellos serán el despojo,
Y la multitud de sus ganados el botín;
Esparciré a todos los vientos(BN) a los que se rapan las sienes,
Y de todos lados les traeré su ruina(BO)», declara el Señor.
33 «Y Hazor será guarida de chacales,
Una desolación para siempre;
Nadie habitará allí,
Ni residirá en ella hijo de hombre(BP)».
Profecía sobre Elam
34 Palabra del Señor que vino al profeta Jeremías acerca de Elam(BQ) al comienzo del reinado de Sedequías, rey de Judá(BR): 35 «Así dice el Señor de los ejércitos:
“Voy a quebrar el arco de Elam(BS),
Lo mejor[u] de su fortaleza.
36 -”Y traeré sobre Elam los cuatro vientos
Desde los cuatro extremos del cielo(BT),
Y a todos estos vientos los esparciré.
No habrá nación(BU)
Adonde no vayan los expulsados de Elam.
37 -”Destrozaré[v] a Elam delante de sus enemigos
Y delante de los que buscan sus vidas;
Traeré sobre ellos calamidad(BV),
El ardor de Mi ira(BW)”, declara el Señor,
“Y enviaré tras ellos la espada
Hasta que los haya acabado(BX).
38 -”Entonces pondré Mi trono en Elam,
Y allí destruiré al rey y a los príncipes”,
Declara el Señor.
39 “Pero sucederá en los postreros días
Que restauraré el bienestar[w] de Elam”»,
Declara el Señor(BY).

A Message About Ammon
49 Concerning the Ammonites:(A)
This is what the Lord says:
“Has Israel no sons?
Has Israel no heir?
Why then has Molek[a](B) taken possession of Gad?(C)
Why do his people live in its towns?
2 But the days are coming,”
declares the Lord,
“when I will sound the battle cry(D)
against Rabbah(E) of the Ammonites;
it will become a mound of ruins,(F)
and its surrounding villages will be set on fire.
Then Israel will drive out
those who drove her out,(G)”
says the Lord.
3 “Wail, Heshbon,(H) for Ai(I) is destroyed!
Cry out, you inhabitants of Rabbah!
Put on sackcloth(J) and mourn;
rush here and there inside the walls,
for Molek(K) will go into exile,(L)
together with his priests and officials.
4 Why do you boast of your valleys,
boast of your valleys so fruitful?
Unfaithful Daughter Ammon,(M)
you trust in your riches(N) and say,
‘Who will attack me?’(O)
5 I will bring terror on you
from all those around you,”
declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.
“Every one of you will be driven away,
and no one will gather the fugitives.(P)
6 “Yet afterward, I will restore(Q) the fortunes of the Ammonites,”
declares the Lord.
A Message About Edom(R)(S)
7 Concerning Edom:(T)
This is what the Lord Almighty says:
“Is there no longer wisdom in Teman?(U)
Has counsel perished from the prudent?
Has their wisdom decayed?
8 Turn and flee, hide in deep caves,(V)
you who live in Dedan,(W)
for I will bring disaster on Esau
at the time when I punish him.
9 If grape pickers came to you,
would they not leave a few grapes?
If thieves came during the night,
would they not steal only as much as they wanted?
10 But I will strip Esau bare;
I will uncover his hiding places,(X)
so that he cannot conceal himself.
His armed men are destroyed,
also his allies and neighbors,
so there is no one(Y) to say,
11 ‘Leave your fatherless children;(Z) I will keep them alive.
Your widows(AA) too can depend on me.’”
12 This is what the Lord says: “If those who do not deserve to drink the cup(AB) must drink it, why should you go unpunished?(AC) You will not go unpunished, but must drink it. 13 I swear(AD) by myself,” declares the Lord, “that Bozrah(AE) will become a ruin and a curse,[b] an object of horror(AF) and reproach;(AG) and all its towns will be in ruins forever.”(AH)
14 I have heard a message from the Lord;
an envoy was sent to the nations to say,
“Assemble yourselves to attack it!
Rise up for battle!”
15 “Now I will make you small among the nations,
despised by mankind.
16 The terror you inspire
and the pride(AI) of your heart have deceived you,
you who live in the clefts of the rocks,(AJ)
who occupy the heights of the hill.
Though you build your nest(AK) as high as the eagle’s,
from there I will bring you down,”
declares the Lord.
17 “Edom will become an object of horror;(AL)
all who pass by will be appalled and will scoff
because of all its wounds.(AM)
18 As Sodom(AN) and Gomorrah(AO) were overthrown,
along with their neighboring towns,”
says the Lord,
“so no one will live there;
no people will dwell(AP) in it.
19 “Like a lion(AQ) coming up from Jordan’s thickets(AR)
to a rich pastureland,
I will chase Edom from its land in an instant.
Who is the chosen one I will appoint for this?
Who is like(AS) me and who can challenge me?(AT)
And what shepherd(AU) can stand against me?”
20 Therefore, hear what the Lord has planned against Edom,(AV)
what he has purposed(AW) against those who live in Teman:(AX)
The young of the flock(AY) will be dragged away;
their pasture will be appalled at their fate.(AZ)
21 At the sound of their fall the earth will tremble;(BA)
their cry(BB) will resound to the Red Sea.[c]
22 Look! An eagle will soar and swoop(BC) down,
spreading its wings over Bozrah.(BD)
In that day the hearts of Edom’s warriors(BE)
will be like the heart of a woman in labor.(BF)
A Message About Damascus
23 Concerning Damascus:(BG)
“Hamath(BH) and Arpad(BI) are dismayed,
for they have heard bad news.
They are disheartened,
troubled like[d] the restless sea.(BJ)
24 Damascus has become feeble,
she has turned to flee
and panic has gripped her;
anguish and pain have seized her,
pain like that of a woman in labor.(BK)
25 Why has the city of renown not been abandoned,
the town in which I delight?
26 Surely, her young men(BL) will fall in the streets;
all her soldiers will be silenced(BM) in that day,”
declares the Lord Almighty.
27 “I will set fire(BN) to the walls of Damascus;(BO)
it will consume(BP) the fortresses of Ben-Hadad.(BQ)”
A Message About Kedar and Hazor
28 Concerning Kedar(BR) and the kingdoms of Hazor,(BS) which Nebuchadnezzar(BT) king of Babylon attacked:
This is what the Lord says:
“Arise, and attack Kedar
and destroy the people of the East.(BU)
29 Their tents and their flocks(BV) will be taken;
their shelters will be carried off
with all their goods and camels.
People will shout to them,
‘Terror(BW) on every side!’
30 “Flee quickly away!
Stay in deep caves,(BX) you who live in Hazor,(BY)”
declares the Lord.
“Nebuchadnezzar(BZ) king of Babylon has plotted against you;
he has devised a plan against you.
31 “Arise and attack a nation at ease,
which lives in confidence,”
declares the Lord,
“a nation that has neither gates nor bars;(CA)
its people live far from danger.
32 Their camels(CB) will become plunder,
and their large herds(CC) will be spoils of war.
I will scatter to the winds(CD) those who are in distant places[e](CE)
and will bring disaster on them from every side,”
declares the Lord.
33 “Hazor(CF) will become a haunt of jackals,(CG)
a desolate(CH) place forever.
No one will live there;
no people will dwell(CI) in it.”
A Message About Elam
34 This is the word of the Lord that came to Jeremiah the prophet concerning Elam,(CJ) early in the reign of Zedekiah(CK) king of Judah:
35 This is what the Lord Almighty says:
“See, I will break the bow(CL) of Elam,
the mainstay of their might.
36 I will bring against Elam the four winds(CM)
from the four quarters of heaven;(CN)
I will scatter them to the four winds,
and there will not be a nation
where Elam’s exiles do not go.
37 I will shatter Elam before their foes,
before those who want to kill them;
I will bring disaster on them,
even my fierce anger,”(CO)
declares the Lord.
“I will pursue them with the sword(CP)
until I have made an end of them.
38 I will set my throne in Elam
and destroy her king and officials,”
declares the Lord.
39 “Yet I will restore(CQ) the fortunes of Elam
in days to come,”
declares the Lord.
