16 Le-a dat robilor săi, turmă cu turmă, deosebit, şi a poruncit robilor săi: „Treceţi înaintea mea şi lăsaţi o depărtare între fiecare turmă.” 17 A dat celui dintâi porunca următoare: „Când te va întâlni fratele meu Esau şi te va întreba: ‘Al cui eşti? Unde te duci? Şi a cui este turma aceasta dinaintea ta?’ 18 să răspunzi: ‘A robului tău Iacov; ea este un dar trimis domnului meu Esau, şi el însuşi vine în urma noastră’.”

The Voice
16 When he had rounded them up, he made various servants responsible for driving each herd. He gave them instructions.
Jacob: Travel on ahead of me, and put some distance between each herd.
17 (to the leader) When Esau, my brother, meets you and asks you, “To whom do you belong? Where are you going? And whose herds are these?” 18 then say, “They belong to your servant, Jacob, and are a gift sent to my master, Esau. Jacob is coming along behind us.”

16 He put them in the care of his servants, each herd by itself, and said to his servants, “Go ahead of me, and keep some space between the herds.”(A)
17 He instructed the one in the lead: “When my brother Esau meets you and asks, ‘Who do you belong to, and where are you going, and who owns all these animals in front of you?’ 18 then you are to say, ‘They belong to your servant(B) Jacob. They are a gift(C) sent to my lord Esau, and he is coming behind us.’”
