Genesis 6

Revised Geneva Translation

6 So when men began to be multiplied upon the Earth, and there were daughters born to them,

² Then the sons of God saw the daughters of men (that they were fair) and they took wives of all whom they liked.

³ Therefore the LORD said, “My spirit shall not always strive with man, because he is but flesh. And his days shall be a hundred and twenty years.”

⁴ There were giants on the Earth in those days—and also after that—when the sons of God came into the daughters of men, and children had been borne to them. These were mighty men, who, in old time, were men of renown.

⁵ When the LORD saw that the wickedness of man was great on the Earth (and all the imaginations of the thoughts of his heart were only evil continually),

⁶ then it caused the LORD to regret that He had made man on the Earth; and He was sorry in His heart.

⁷ Therefore the LORD said, “I will destroy the man whom I have created from off the Earth— from man to beast to the creeping thing and to the birds of the heaven — for I regret that I have made them.

⁸ But Noah found grace in the eyes of the LORD.

⁹ These are the generations of Noah. Noah was a just and upright man in his time. Noah walked with God.

¹⁰ And Noah begat three sons: Shem, Ham and Japheth.

¹¹ The Earth was also corrupt before God; for the Earth was filled with cruelty.

¹² Then God looked upon the Earth; and behold, it was corrupt. For all flesh had corrupted its way upon the Earth.

¹³ And God said to Noah, “An end of all flesh has come before Me; for the Earth is filled with cruelty through them. And behold, I will destroy them with the Earth.

¹⁴ “Make an Ark of gopher wood. You shall make cabins in the Ark and shall cover it inside and outside with a coating.

¹⁵ “And thus shall you make it: the length of the Ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.

¹⁶ “You shall make a window in the Ark, and you shall finish it above in a cubit; and you shall set the door of the Ark in the side thereof. You shall make it with the low, second, and third room.

¹⁷ “And I, behold, I will bring a Flood of waters upon the Earth, to destroy all flesh wherein is the breath of life under Heaven. All that is on the Earth shall perish.

¹⁸ But I will establish My covenant with you. And you shall go into the Ark, you and your sons and your wife and your sons’ wives with you.

¹⁹ “And you shall cause two of every sort of every living thing (of all flesh) to come into the Ark, to keep them alive with you. They shall be male and female.

²⁰ Of the birds after their kind, and of the cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come to you; so that you may keep them alive.

²¹ “And take with you all food that is eaten. And you shall gather it; so that it may be food for you and for them.”

²² Therefore, Noah did as God commanded him. So did he.
