12,13 Met al die slechtheid en verdorvenheid voor ogen zei Hij tegen Noach: ‘Ik heb besloten de hele mensheid uit te roeien, want zij is de schuld van alle geweld en slechtheid. Ja, Ik zal de bewoners van de aarde vernietigen. 14 Bouw een ark van acaciahout en bestrijk het hout met pek om het waterdicht te maken. 15 Verdeel hem in dekken en onderkomens. Maak hem honderdvijftig meter lang, vijfentwintig meter breed en vijftien meter hoog.

13 Daarom zei God tegen Noach: "Ik heb besloten om alle mensen te doden. Want het is hun schuld dat er zoveel geweld op aarde is. Daarom ga Ik hen samen met de aarde vernietigen. 14 Maak van hout een dichte boot, met kamers er in. Besmeer hem van binnen en van buiten met teer om hem waterdicht te maken. 15 Hij moet 300 el (150 meter) lang, 50 el (25 meter) breed en 30 el (15 meter) hoog worden.

13 So God said to Noah, “I am going to put an end to all people, for the earth is filled with violence because of them. I am surely going to destroy(A) both them and the earth.(B) 14 So make yourself an ark of cypress[a] wood;(C) make rooms in it and coat it with pitch(D) inside and out. 15 This is how you are to build it: The ark is to be three hundred cubits long, fifty cubits wide and thirty cubits high.[b]

13 And God said unto Noah, The end of all flesh is come before me; for the earth is filled with violence through them; and, behold, I will destroy them with the earth.
14 Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
15 And this is the fashion which thou shalt make it of: The length of the ark shall be three hundred cubits, the breadth of it fifty cubits, and the height of it thirty cubits.
