²⁹ When ^[a](A)the time for Israel to die drew near, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “Please, if I have found favor in your sight, ^(B)place your hand under my thigh now and ^(C)deal with me in kindness and ^[b]faithfulness: please do not bury me in Egypt, ³⁰ but when I ^(D)[c]lie down with my fathers, you shall carry me out of Egypt and bury me in ^(E)their burial place.” And he said, “I will do as you have said.”

¹⁹ And Moses took ^(A)the bones of Joseph with him, for he had made the sons of Israel solemnly swear, saying, “God will certainly ^[a]take care of you, and you shall carry my bones from here with you.”

³² Now ^(A)they buried the bones of Joseph, which the sons of Israel brought up from Egypt, at Shechem, in the plot of land ^(B)which Jacob had bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for a hundred ^[a]pieces of money; and they became the inheritance of Joseph’s sons.

²² By faith ^(A)Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the exodus of the sons of Israel, and gave orders concerning his bones.
