²⁹ When the time ^(A)drew near that Israel must die, he called his son Joseph and said to him, “Now if I have found favor in your sight, please ^(B)put your hand under my thigh, and ^(C)deal kindly and truly with me. ^(D)Please do not bury me in Egypt,

³⁰ but ^(A)let me lie with my fathers; you shall carry me out of Egypt and ^(B)bury me in their burial place.”

And he said, “I will do as you have said.”

¹⁹ And Moses took the ^(A)bones of ^(B)Joseph with him, for he had placed the children of Israel under solemn oath, saying, ^(C)“God will surely ^[a]visit you, and you shall carry up my bones from here with you.”

^32 (A)The bones of Joseph, which the children of Israel had brought up out of Egypt, they buried at Shechem, in the plot of ground ^(B)which Jacob had bought from the sons of Hamor the father of Shechem for one hundred ^[a]pieces of silver, and which had become an inheritance of the children of Joseph.

^15 (A)So Jacob went down to Egypt; ^(B)and he died, he and our fathers.

¹⁶ And ^(A)they were carried back to Shechem and laid in ^(B)the tomb that Abraham bought for a sum of money from the sons of Hamor, the father of Shechem.

²² By faith ^(A)Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.
