Genesis 42:22-24

22 Reuben responded to them, “Didn’t I tell you, ‘Don’t do anything wrong to the boy’? But you wouldn’t listen. So now this is payback for his death.” 23 They didn’t know that Joseph was listening to them because they were using an interpreter. 24 He stepped away from them and wept. When he returned, he spoke with them again. Then he took Simeon from them and tied him up in front of them.

New International Version
22 Reuben replied, “Didn’t I tell you not to sin against the boy?(A) But you wouldn’t listen! Now we must give an accounting(B) for his blood.”(C) 23 They did not realize(D) that Joseph could understand them,(E) since he was using an interpreter.
24 He turned away from them and began to weep,(F) but then came back and spoke to them again. He had Simeon taken from them and bound before their eyes.(G)

23 And they knew not that Joseph understood them; for he spake unto them by an interpreter.
24 And he turned himself about from them, and wept; and returned to them again, and communed with them, and took from them Simeon, and bound him before their eyes.
