Joseph in Charge of Egypt

⁴¹ So Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I hereby put you in charge of the whole land of Egypt.”^(A)

³ Mordecai the Jew was second^(A) in rank^(B) to King Xerxes,^(C) preeminent among the Jews, and held in high esteem by his many fellow Jews, because he worked for the good of his people and spoke up for the welfare of all the Jews.^(D)

²⁰ In every matter of wisdom and understanding about which the king questioned them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians^(A) and enchanters in his whole kingdom.^(B)

¹² He did this because Daniel, whom the king called Belteshazzar,^(A) was found to have a keen mind and knowledge and understanding, and also the ability to interpret dreams, explain riddles^(B) and solve difficult problems.^(C) Call for Daniel, and he will tell you what the writing means.^(D)”

¹³ So Daniel was brought before the king, and the king said to him, “Are you Daniel, one of the exiles my father the king brought from Judah?^{(E) 14} I have heard that the spirit of the gods^(F) is in you and that you have insight, intelligence and outstanding wisdom.^(G)
