⁹ Then the Lord said to Cain, “Where is your brother Abel?”

“I don’t know,” he replied. “Am I my brother’s guardian?”

¹⁰ Then He said, “What have you done? Your brother’s blood cries out to Me from the ground!^(A)

²⁴ to Jesus (mediator^(A) of a new covenant^(B)), and to the sprinkled blood, which says better things than the blood of Abel.^(C)

¹² unlike Cain,^(A) who was of the evil one^(B) and murdered^[a] his brother. And why did he murder him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.
