Joseph and Potiphar’s Wife

39 Now Joseph^(A) had been taken down to Egypt. Potiphar, an Egyptian who was one of Pharaoh’s officials, the captain of the guard,^(B) bought him from the Ishmaelites who had taken him there.^(C)

³ and put them in custody in the house of the captain of the guard,^(A) in the same prison where Joseph was confined.

¹⁰ Pharaoh was once angry with his servants,^(A) and he imprisoned me and the chief baker in the house of the captain of the guard.^(B)

¹² Now a young Hebrew^(A) was there with us, a servant of the captain of the guard.^(B) We told him our dreams, and he interpreted them for us, giving each man the interpretation of his dream.^(C)

¹⁴ Ahimelek answered the king, “Who^(A) of all your servants is as loyal as David, the king’s son-in-law, captain of your bodyguard and highly respected in your household?
