² There Judah saw the daughter of a certain Canaanite whose name was ^(A)Shua. He took her and went in to her, ³ and she conceived and bore a son, and he called his name ^(B)Er. ⁴ She conceived again and bore a son, and she called his name ^(C)Onan. ⁵ Yet again she bore a son, and she called his name ^(D)Shelah. Judah^[a] was in Chezib when she bore him.

¹² The sons of ^(A)Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah (but ^(B)Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan); and the sons of ^(C)Perez were Hezron and Hamul.
