7 And when the sons of Jacob were come out of the field and heard it, it grieved the men, and they were very angry, because he had wrought [a]villany in Israel, in that he had lain with Jacob’s daughter: [b]which thing ought not to be done.
8 And Hamor communed with them, saying, The soul of my son: Shechem longeth for your daughter, [c]give her him to wife, I pray you.
9 So make affinity with us, give your daughters unto us, and take our daughters unto you.

7 The sons of Jacob had come in from the field as soon as they heard of it, and the men were indignant and (A)very angry, because he (B)had done an outrageous thing in Israel by lying with Jacob's daughter, (C)for such a thing must not be done.
8 But Hamor spoke with them, saying, “The soul of my son Shechem longs for your[a] daughter. Please give her to him to be his wife. 9 Make marriages with us. Give your daughters to us, and take our daughters for yourselves.
