Genesis 27:38-40

New International Version

³⁸Esau said to his father, “Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me too, my father!” Then Esau wept aloud.^(A)

³⁹His father Isaac answered him,^(B)

“Your dwelling will be
    away from the earth’s richness,
    away from the dew^(C) of heaven above.^(D)
⁴⁰You will live by the sword
    and you will serve^(E) your brother.^(F)
But when you grow restless,
    you will throw his yoke
    from off your neck.^(G)”

³⁸Esau said to his father, “Do you have only one blessing, my father? Bless me, me as well, my father.” So Esau raised his voice and ^(A)wept.

³⁹Then ^(B)his father Isaac answered and said to him,

“Behold, ^[a]^(C)away from the ^[b]fertility of the earth shall be your dwelling,
And ^[c]away from the dew of heaven from above.
⁴⁰And by your sword you shall live,
And ^(D)you shall serve your brother;
But it shall come about ^(E)when you become restless,
That you will ^[d]break his yoke from your neck.”
