⁴ Before they went to bed, the men of the city of Sodom, both young and old, the whole population, surrounded the house. ⁵ They called out to Lot and said, “Where are the men who came to you tonight? Send them out to us so we can have sex with them!” ^(A)

¹³ that wicked men have sprung up among you, led the inhabitants of their city astray, and said, ‘Let’s go and worship other gods,’ which you have not known,^(A)

Eli’s Family Judged

¹² Eli’s sons were wicked men;^(A) they did not respect the Lord^(B)

¹⁰ Then seat two wicked men^(A) opposite him and have them testify against him, saying, “You have cursed God and the king!” ^(B) Then take him out and stone him to death.^(C)

⁴⁶ Your older sister was Samaria,^(A) who lived with her daughters to the north of you, and your younger sister was Sodom, who lived with her daughters to the south of you. ⁴⁷ Didn’t you walk in their ways and do their detestable practices? It was only a short time before all your ways were more corrupt than theirs.^(B)

⁴⁸ “‘As I live—the declaration of the Lord God—your sister Sodom and her daughters have not behaved as you and your daughters have.^(C)
