¹³ Then He said to Abram: “Know certainly ^(A)that your descendants will be strangers in a land that is not theirs, and will serve them, and ^(B)they will afflict them four hundred years.

⁷ And the Lord said: ^(A)“I have surely seen the oppression of My people who are in Egypt, and have heard their cry ^(B)because of their taskmasters, ^(C)for I know their ^[a]sorrows.

⁶ So the same day Pharaoh commanded the ^(A)taskmasters of the people and their officers, saying,
